Backness.

Hello, it's me.

Okay! So, I'm home. :3
That trip was totally awesome~
Okayokay. So, the trip really began when we were just driving over to Cali and my mom wanted to listen to my iPod on the nifty radio/converter thingy our friend's Lexus had. So, being the retro-music loving loser I am, I put on this CD series for her called "Flower Power" ((shuddup I know)) and she was freaking out. She kept saying stuff like, "OH MY GOD, MARY, I HAVEN'T HEARD THIS SONG IN YEARS! I CAN'T BELIEVE YOU HAVE THIS! OH MY GOD! *sentimental* " Hahaha, yeah.
Todd Rundgren = ♥. Anywhoo, we stopped off at The Mad Greek ((a Greek restaurant)) for some gyros and strawberry milkshakes before we pressed on into the desert.
We got to Laguna Beach in about 4 hours, which isn't too shabby. Our hotel was called "Oceanside" ((I think...)) and it was pretty great. You could see the ocean from the balcony~
That night, we got kinda dressed up to go to The Festival of the Arts and The Pageant of the Masters.
Holy. Shit.
That was some of the coolest stuff I've ever seen in my life. Basically, it was a bunch of local artists selling their artwork and generally showing it off. There was food, music, and of course TONS of new art. Then, we saw the Pageant. Now, we were sitting pretty far away from the stage, but let me tell you--that was pretty freaking amazing. Basically what the show is is a bunch of people get together and recreate classic pieces of artwork with sets and live actors. (( [link]=pageant+of+the+masters&gbv=2&aq=0&oq=pageant+of+the+ ))
This year's theme was "The Muse", and it featured work from artists like Maxfield Parrish, Frida Kahlo, Diego Rivera, and Camille Claudel ((among others)). One of the coolest parts was when they recreated giant lithograph posters of old movies like "The Creature from the Black Lagoon" and "King Kong".
The next day was spent entirely at the beach where I got sorta tan but also sorta sunburned. Hey, at least I don't look all pasty and pale anymore! :3
The last day there, yesterday, was spent SHOPPING. I didn't buy anything, sadly, but DEAR GOD THEY HAVE SUCH AMAZING THINGS THERE.
We also stopped in a couple of local art galleries to see what was what. The best one we went into, I think, was one belonging to this man named Vladimir Kush. (( [link] ))
Though, my favorite part of his gallery actually belonged to somebody else...a guy named Dmitri Danish. You guys, I actually had tears in my eyes it was so beautiful. (( [link] [ And you guys already know how I am when it comes to artists. It's kinda sad how much of I loser I am. x'D ] )) Yeah, it was impossibly beautiful.
We went back to the festival for awhile to look at the artwork a little more, and then it was time to go home. We stopped at a Carl's Junior for burgers and gas and then arrived home again last night at about 10:00. It was a great trip and a wonderful reminder of why I love Laguna so much. ^^
Okie doke, this journal seems about long enough.
Tata~♥
